Louvre Museum
When in Paris, you cannot not spend a few hours in the Louvre Museum, unless of course you go here for the 10th time and ticked all the must-sees already.... Mona Lisa, Milo's Venus, and lots of other very very old stuff.... If you have the time: book the guided tour, things will come more alive then walking around there just by yourself.
My personal favorite museum in Paris. Why? Architecture, it is an old trainstation, the vibe is very open. No endless galleries of specific era's in art-history, but instead compact exhibitions of art movements, with popular paintings of impressionism, van Gogh, Monet, Manet and so on. And of course the famous 'l'Origin du Monde', the Origin of the World from Courbet's perspective. You will love it!
For the lazy tourist: get a boat-tour, get up on the Eiffel Tower, and don't miss the Louvre: buy this Paris City Card and you will be just fine for a few days.
This is your first time in Paris? Like everybody does, of course you go up on the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower, named after its architect, raised temporarily for Paris's world exhibition in 1889, and after more then 100 years still they not tore it down... Well why should they, it is one of the most remarkable landmarks in Paris. Go there, and if you not into queing up, buy one of the tickets down here....
In for some good oldfashioned American Culture in Europe? Fed up with the traffic in the city, or the strawling around in Museums? Get out of town, with or without your kids: 40 minutes east of Paris you will find Disneyland Paris.
Transport: If you want to save money, don't take a taxi (it will cost you more dan 75euro), but go to Metro/RER-station 'Chatelet Les Halles'. From there every 10 minutes a train will take you directly to Marne La Vallee-Chessy in 40 minutes for about 10 euro: that's next door to the entrance of Disneyland.
Another must-do for the first- or secondtimer in Paris: the Palace and Gardens of Versailles. You will be thrown back in time centuries ago, look through your eyelashes and you might bump into Louis XIV or Marie Antoinette.
There is a direct train from Gare Montparnasse to Versailles, it takes only 12 minutes to get there...
And there is this remarkable piece of Architecture at the end of the Champs Elysees, in the center of the most exciting roundabout in the western hemisphere: The Arc de Triomphe! Raised by Napoleon, not himself of course, and now the place is named after this other great french general: Charles de Gaulle. Although the Parisiens themselves still call it 'Place d'etoile', referring to the star-shape that connects 12 roads. Have a look, preferably at nighttime, and i you like, you can go up to the roof and overlook the Champs Elysees and the rest of the city, again, most pretty at night, or sunset! And after a hopefully satisfying day in Paris, your feet hurt, you only want 1 thing: sit down with a big glass of beer, wine of Champagne.... Don't you? Treat yourself and your loved ones on a tour by nightfall on the Seine. Can it get more romantic?

Louis Vuitton, known for its exclusive (and expensive) designs for bags, suitcases and of course fashion. When you visit Paris because it's the world-capital of fashion, well, you can't miss the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Housed in an excentric building, you will at least have the feeling being in the center of the universe for a day.
It has been a good tradition that every president of France left something behind in Paris to remember his name. So did Georges Pompidou, who was President around 1970. Some blocks in the city centre were torn down, and in one of the gaps Centre Pompidou was established. Pretty modern for that time, and still the excentric architecture is a remarkable view in the middle of the antique facades that surround the building. You will find a collection of contemporary art. And it's in the middle of a nice area in the 3rd Arrondissement, at walking distance from les Halles, Notre Dame and so on.
